Set Up[]

Romulan Empire Player[]

50 squadron points, including one Romulan ship. The Romulan Empire cannon use any additional ships.

Romulan Defector Player[]

30 squadron points, including one Romulan Scout Vessel commanded by Alidar Jarok. The Romulan Defector cannot use any additional ships.

Play Area[]

The Romulan Defector must place their ship first. They must place the ship at least 4" away from the Mission's starting edge (N), but no more than 8" away from that edge. Place 3 Mission Tokens on top of the Romulan Defector's Ship Card.

The Romulan Empire Player places their ship next. They must place the ship within 4" of the same starting edge (N). Place 1 Mission Token on top of the Romulan Empire's Ship Card.

The Romulan Empire Player then places the Objective Token anywhere within a 4"x8" area in the center of the opposite edge of the map (S). This Objective Token represents the safety of an awaiting Federation ship's extended shields. Neither player may fire at or through the Objective Token. Place the remaining 6 Mission Tokens in a stack beside the play area.

Special Rules[]

The Romulan Defector has 6 turns to reach the safety of the awaiting Federation ship. At the end of each turn, remove one Mission Token from the stack beside the play area to mark the passage of time. If the last Mission Token is removed from the stack in this way, then the game ends and the Romulan Defector immediately fails the Mission.

If the Romulan Empire ship ever damages the Romulan Defector ship, the Romulan Empire player may, at the end of the "Modify Defense Dice" step after all other decisions have been made, choose to remove the Mission Token from his Ship Card to reduce the total damage to exactly 1 normal damage. They may only do this once per game.

At the end of any turn in which the Romulan Empire's ship is not within Range 2 of Alidar Jarok's ship, remove 1 Mission Token from the Romulan Defector's Ship Card. This represents Alidar Jarok being suspicious of the Romulan Empire's intention.

Also, at the end of any turn in which the Romulan Empire's ship has Alidar Jarok's ship in its forward firing arc (and within range) but chooses not to fire, remove 1 Mission Token from the Romulan Defector's Ship Card. This also represents Alidar Jarok's growing suspicions. Note that if the Romulan Empire's ship is unable to file due to a special effect, this does not count and the Romulan Defector does not remove a Mission Token.

Objectives[]

Romulan Defector Player: You have 6 turns to reach the Objective Token during which time you must uncover the covert intentions of the Romulan Empire. As soon as your ship enters the Objective Token, the game ends. You then immediately a number of Attack Dice equal to 4 minus 1 for each Mission Token still on your Ship Card (i.e., the more tokens you have left, the worse your chances of rolling a winning result). If you ship's Shields and Hull are both completely undamaged, you win the game if you roll at least 1 Hit or Critical Hit on your Attack Dice; this represents Alidar Jarok figuring out that he has been duped. If your ship's Shields or Hull are damaged, you only win the game if you roll at least one Critical Hit result. If you do not roll a winning result, Alidar has been completely tricked and you fail the mission.

Romulan Empire Player: If you destroy Alidar Jarok's ship, you immediately loose the game. If Alidar Jarok's ship surivives but does not reach the Objective Token in 6 turns, you win the game. If Alidar Jarok's ship reaches the Objective Token but the Defector player fails to roll a winning result, you also win the game. However, if your ship ever enters the Objective Token, you immediately lose the game.
